2019 U.S. Open: Serena Williams defeats Maria Sharapova at US Open

Serena’s 19th consecutive win over Sharapova. America’s star tennis player Serena Williams defeated Russia’s Maria Sharapova in the first round of the US Open 2019.

Serena Williams won the match 6–1, 6–1. This is his 19th consecutive win over Mariya Sharapova. So far 22 matches have been played between the two. Sharapova managed to win only two matches.

After the match, Serena Williams was asked about Chair umpire Carlos Ramos in the final last year. To this he said, “I don’t know who she is.”

In fact, last year the US Open final took place between Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka. During the match, Ramos warned Serena to take coaching from the box. When Serena Williams was awarded a penalty of one point on a foul from the racket, she broke out. Serena Williams called the umpire a thief and a liar and asked for an apology.

Umpire Ramos then awarded a game penalty to the outraged Serena Williams for a third violation of the Umpire Code. Osaka then advanced to the second set and then won the match.

On the match against Sharapova, Serena said, “Their game is good against me. Their strikes were coming in the zone. It was right for me. I was also successful in getting the ball into my zone. Especially with no chance in the breakpoint . She is always the leading player. She always wants to fight. “In the second round, Serna will face American wild card entry player Katy McNeely.

Other matches in the Women’s singles were won by Ashley Barty of Australia, Angelique Karber of Germany, Carolyn Pliskova of the Czech Republic and Britain’s Jonna Konta. World number two Barty defeated Zarina Diaz of Kazakhstan 1-6 6-3 6-3. Pliskova defeated compatriot Martinkova 7-6 (8/6), 7-6 (7/3) against the third rank.

Serena Williams’ sister Venus also started with a win. He lost to Zheng Sasai of China 6–1, 6–0. The world ranking of Venus is 52. World No-14 Karber defeated France’s Kristina Mladenovic 1-5, 0-6, 6-4. World No. 16 Konta defeated Russia’s Daria Kastakina 6–1, 4–6, 6–2.
