To fight the coronavirus, Apple and Google (Google) together last week announced the development of contact tracing technology. It has been said that it will be launched in two stages, the first of which will be launched in the month of May. Apple has shared some information about how this technology will work.
The first stage of the COVID-19 contact tracing process will include application programming interfaces (APIs) and operating system level technology to differentiate between Android and iOS. It was reported that the government’s health agencies could use these APIs for contact tracing apps, thereby alerting the person infected with COVID-19.
Apple said that as soon as the user updates his phone to the latest version and chooses the API, the phone will start sending Bluetooth signals to the surrounding device, and will record the signal from the other phone. If the user has also downloaded any public health app using APU, then he will also be able to watch the events of the last 14 days. However, there is no confirmation about whether alerts will come in the event that the phone is not in public health.
In its second stage, contact tracing will be integrated into the operating system with Apple and Google. This will be done using Bluetooth so that alerts can be sent to the user. This will be more effective than the API.
Apple said that the public health application will also know about the incidents that took place within 5 minutes. This will alert users to apps when they are actually close to a Kovid-19 patient. The report said that the first stage of this technology will begin next month, when Google and Apple will release APIs for Android and iOS. Its second stage will be presented in the next few months.
